What 6 Young West Javans Have to Talk About Dedi Mulyadi and Pilkada Jabar 2018.

Let's cut the crap. Here's some views of young voluntary West Javan who on Dedi Mulyadi and Pilkada Jabar 2018 for your entertainment.

1. Ryan (Content creator, wasn't born in West Java but raised there, @aditryan)

Do you care about Pilkada Jawa Barat (Jabar) 2018?
Of course. It’s where I live, work, fall in love. I know that I have to care about it because I have to. But the irony is, now I care because the current governor fucked this province up during his two-period tenure. Fuckin’ 10 years! And nothing better come up from him. So, I care now, because I don’t want someone like him elected as a governor anymore. Enough is enough.

Have you ever heard the name of Dedi Mulyadi?
I have. He’s all over the place.

How do you know him?
Through his buzzer on Twitter, IG, Facebook. Through billboards with his big-awkward smile all over West Java. And through news outlets.

Do you care about his Pilkada Jabar 2018 candidacy?
Well, yeah.. I don’t want someone useless to be the governor of West Java. And I believe he’s useless.

Do you know any of his public policy?
I know some, and a lot of them are stupid if not useless. School starts literally at 6 a.m., The only infrastructure he built is a Rp56 billion fountain, force marriage for couples who got caught still on a date after 9 p.m.

Do you think to be legally raided by Satpol PP for being together with your heterosexual friend/someone in a particular location above 9 PM and forced to marry that person if got caught and refused to break up your boy/girlfriend are great ideas? Why?
No of course. Only a pervert thinks that this policy is a good idea. It’s against human rights, it’s not feasible, and on top of that, it’s a disgrace to logic.

It was a thing in Purwakarta, are you familiar with that?
Yes. I weep for people in Purwakarta.

To have a movie theatre has always been a dream for many Purwakartans. Are you familiar that there’s no movie theatre in Purwakarta for many years now?
Really? No movie theatre there? So where do you watch movie? Bandung? Or you guys still watch layar tancep? Geez..

Purwakarta have three highway gates, connecting it with Jakarta, Bekasi, Bogor, Bandung, right? You’re right in the middle of Jakarta and Bandung. Two big cities with the highest development. Yet no big businessman wants to build a big business (such as movie theatre business, or mall) there? something’s wrong with your officials there, dude.

Do you think to have a cinema in Purwakarta is worth fighting for?
Not just cinema. Everything; housing, markets, schools, tourism. There’s so much potential there, but you still a below par regency.

Are you interested in learning more about Dedi Mulyadi’s public policy during his two-period tenure as the Regent of Purwakarta?
Yes. Any good policy he made in 10 years? I want to hear it.

What is your aspiration for your land of birth?
West Java is not my land of birth. But yeah, I just don’t want an incompetent person serves as a governor here again. 10 years of incompetency is enough.

As an important part of West Java’s future, what is your aspiration for a better West Java?
I hope people stop being narrow-minded. They should vote for a candidate considering his/her track record instead of  his/her religion or his/her facial attractiveness. If you disregard the track record aspect, well, there’s a chance that we’re gonna be fucked up again for the next 5 or 10 years.

2. Utami Garmila (Teacher, born in Purwakarta, @utamigarmila)
Do you care about Pilkada Jawa Barat (Jabar) 2018?
Yes I do.

Have you ever heard the name of Dedi Mulyadi?
Obviously. He has been leading Purwakara for around 10 years.

How do you know him?
I often heard his story. While he was still deputy of Regent, he often came to some remote area in Purwakarta to give and help for their difficulties. When he became the Regent, he didn’t change. Even his territory is wider, not only in Purwakarta but also Tasikmalaya, Garut, etc.  He is a Sundanese, and he is very proud of that

From what I see, he prefers to uplift Indonesia's native culture rather than religion. He was accused “musyrik” and being chased by FPI. But he doesn’t even care. Under his leadership, there are so many cultural and youth performances organized by the Purwakarta Regency Government for example, regional culinary specialties, cultural festivals, youth conferences, and other activities based on local wisdom.

Do you care about his Pilkada Jabar 2018 candidacy?
Yes I do.

Do you know any of his public policy?
Besides cultured freedom, he also paid attention to religious freedom.
He changed all public schools’ name.
For student, riding motorcycle to school will be sanctioned not passing the current grade.
Not allowed to dating or visiting partner’s house above 9 pm.
All teachers, especially in public school, are not allowed to give homework to students.
Students must have pets or cattle at home.

Do you think to be legally raided by Satpol PP for being together with your heterosexual friend/someone in a particular location above 9 PM and forced to marry that person if got caught and refused to break up your boy/girlfriend are great ideas? Why?
Being raided is okay, so youth of Purwakarta, they can be aware and will realize that it’s not good to be outside home with non-authorized spouse. But maybe, we can suggest the way the officers execute. The officers can talk politely without offending anyone.

To have a movie theatre has always been a dream for many Purwakartans. Are you familiar that there’s no movie theatre in Purwakarta for many years now?
Yes, of course!

Do you think to have a cinema in Purwakarta is worth fighting for?
Yup :)

Are you interested in learning more about Dedi Mulyadi’s public policy during his two-period tenure as the Regent of Purwakarta?
Yes I am. I just want to know the reasons or what lies behind him issuing that policy.

What is your aspiration for your land of birth?

I’m just concerned about the education policy. We need to make it effective and efficient for children's learning. Most importantly, how children are able to get and understand the material and implement the things they get in everyday life. And last but not least, the cinema one :)

As an important part of West Java’s future, what is your aspiration for a better West Java?
I would like to mention few things, we all have to focus on jobs, public welfare, education, transportation, public health in remote areas.

3. Nadia Arini (Consular Staff, born in Bandung, @arininadia & @nadia_arini)
Do you care about Pilkada Jawa Barat (Jabar) 2018?
Yes I do.

Have you ever heard the name of Dedi Mulyadi?

Yup, I’ve been hearing the name since several years ago until today.

How do you know him?

I know him from you—Ijey—actually and my aunties who work as a local government officers in Purwakarta & Subang. They share stories related to his policy, behaviors, and their personal thoughts (also their officemates) regarding those.

Do you care about his Pilkada Jabar 2018 candidacy?
Yes I definitely care.

Do you know any of his public policy?

Some of those I familiar with are like holding several of celebrations to commemorate or celebrate something and building numerous statues of national patriots or historical/local legend figure. Also, revitalizing(?) Situ Buleud into local tourism attraction with giant statues of local legend figures (I don’t know the names) and attractive fountain show every weekend.

I personally haven’t seen the fountain show, but I’ve seen the fuckin giant statues. My aunt said that that area weren’t used to be like that.

Do you think to be legally raided by Satpol PP for being together with your heterosexual friend/someone in a particular location above 9 PM and forced to marry that person if got caught and refused to break up your boy/girlfriend are great ideas? Why?

For the God’s sake they’re not great at all. For the first, on what basis the raid should be done in the first place? Religious-based reasons? Social norm-based reasons? I mean, if it was about to be implemented, what are the basic rules/policies/indicators to indicate specific act/situation it should be raided?

I think it might take some time to even prove it right at that time. Even if they were dating or maybe cheating, the raid is not the only choice to control society’s behavior. What if the ‘victims’ were a couple of teenager who weren’t doing anything sexual? Should they get married in their growing age just to abide by ridiculous rule? How about their future?

This policy also kinda gives the ‘sex-predator’ a legal way to do their sicko habit. For instance, adult man could frame himself into a situation with an innocent teen girl who might not know the real situation is at someplace. Then the raid happens and they’re forced to get married. Can you imagine how devastating future might be?

If the Regent wants to ‘fix’ the behavior of his people, I think it couldn’t be done in a blink of an eye. He needs to go through deeper and wider than he thought (also applied in any cases).

To have a movie theatre has always been a dream for many Purwakartans. Are you familiar that there’s no movie theatre in Purwakarta for many years now?

Yes, I’ve been to Purwakarta several times since I was a little and realize that there’s no even shopping mall at all.

Do you think to have a cinema in Purwakarta is worth fighting for?

My personal thought is that cinema is one of good public places that could be used for many purposes such as spreading social & culture value through various of art such films, art performance or art exhibition. And I believe there’s no harm in providing people a decent cinema anywhere, if the terms & conditions meet.

I don’t know for sure actually why the government still not providing a decent shopping mall/cinema (it might be related to the investor/market/economic thingy) where Purwakarta is considered as developing area/district. My aunt family often goes to the nearest cities such as Bandung and Karawang to spend their money on fashion/electronic shopping or even entertainment purposes since there’s no shopping mall/one-stop department store/entertainment complex.

FYI, my aunt’s family consists of 9 members (2 parents, 4 children, 1 daughter in-law, 2 nephews). In my point of view, they could be categorized a big spender family. I’m not bragging but it’s true. My aunt once said that it such a waste that Purwakarta doesn’t have a modern yet economical area that could provide their needs; in fact the tax could be bigger than now on their local income.

Are you interested in learning more about Dedi Mulyadi’s public policy during his two-period tenure as the Regent of Purwakarta?

Yup, since he is going to join Pikada Jabar 2018, I should understanding what his political pattern and behavior are, what kind of policy he ever made before and how the impacts are, also what’s good or bad of him.

What is your aspiration for your land of birth?
My biggest dreams for my land of birth are it can be a well-developed city, led by a clean & transparent government, ruled by fair policy so the society could be well-educated, have a prosperous life and good thing happens in the future.

As an important part of West Java’s future, what is your aspiration for a better West Java?

My aspirations above are also for future West Java. I know that West Java is going nowhere under previous and current governor, and I’m seeing how Jakarta, the city where I work in, is turning slowly into ‘darkness’ as an impact of the latest election. I do hope West Java can do better than ever.

4. Aldy Anggriawan (Public Affairs Consultant, born in Jakarta but raised in Bekasi, @aldyanggriawan)
Do you care about Pilkada Jawa Barat (Jabar) 2018?
I do.

Have you ever heard the name of Dedi Mulyadi?
I have, it's a beautiful name.

How do you know him?

I read about his policy which let students to take a day off of school every week to help their parents.

Do you care about his Pilkada Jabar 2018 candidacy?

Yeah, his journey to get endorsement from Golkar is quite interesting.

Do you know any of his public policy?
Not really.

Do you think to be legally raided by Satpol PP for being together with your heterosexual friend/someone in a particular location above 9 PM and forced to marry that person if got caught and refused to break up your boy/girlfriend are great ideas? Why?

Wow, that sounds awful. I think it is a private sphere and government needs to stay out of it.

It was a thing i Purwakarta, are you familiar with that?

Is it? I know it is also happening in several areas in West Java. Maybe the policy suit the people there and enhance his electability.

To have a movie theatre has always been a dream of many Purwakartans. Are you familiar that there's no move theatre in Purwakarta for many years now?
I knew it from a friend of mine, who is also Purwakartan.

Do you think to have a cinema in Purwakarta is worth fighting for?

Yes, of course. Is it even prohibited in Purwakarta?

Are you interested in learning more about Dedi Mulyadi’s public policy during his two-period tenure as the Regent of Purwakarta?

Yes, I am interested if he is still in the race for the governor position.

What is your aspiration for your land of birth?

Be good to anyone, west java does not only belong to people from certain religion.

As an important part of West Java’s future, what is your aspiration for a better West Java?

It could be great if the future leader can focus on public matters and stay out of personal life of every individual.

5. Daniar (Writer, born in Mojokerto, raised in Purwakarta, @daniarcikita)
Do you care about Pilkada Jawa Barat (Jabar) 2018?
Not really. Since I'm now living in South Tangerang, I couldn't careless. Moreover, you can say that I'm apathetic towards regional politics as it doesn't seem affect my life that much.

Have you ever heard the name of Dedi Mulyadi?
You bet I have. I've been knowing him at least since I was in junior high scholl when he was still the vice regent of Purwakarta. I believe he's been having his two-period regent life now.

How do you know him?
When he was the vice regent (the regent was Lili Hambali), he was quite a "performer", managing his popularity among people better than the regent himself.

Do you care about his Pilkada Jabar 2018 candidacy?
I do care enough. I know what he did in Purwakarta. I'm not saying that everything that he did in Purwakarta is a bad thing. However, I also know that some of his policies just feel so wrong. For example, the perpetual revitalization of sidewalk looked inefficient budget wise it doesn't seem to end. In fact, the sidewalks in a neighborhood near where I live in Purwakarta have never been mended since I was an elementary student.

Do you know any of his public policy?
I know some of them, especially those related to education. For instance, you're obliged to wear Indonesian scout uniform to schook every Monday, all-black traditional uniform (kampret) and kebaya with flip-flop to school, the changing names for all school, and vocational day once a week.

Do you think to be legally raided by Satpol PP for being together with your heterosexual friend/someone in a particular location above 9 PM and forced to marry that person if got caught and refused to break up your boy/girlfriend are great ideas? Why?
It think that's ridiculous. What's your base forcing someone to marry someone? To marry or not to marry is someone's rights. In my religion, there's no obigation to marry someone, so why would even you as government decide someone's bed business?

This is one of Dedi's policies that I think lack of research, and tends to discriminate certain people especialy women and youngsters.

It was a thing i Purwakarta, are you familiar with that?
Yea, so I heard. But I don't know if it's still taking effect.

To have a movie theatre has always been a dream of many Purwakartans. Are you familiar that there's no move theatre in Purwakarta for many years now?
Yes I am. There was a small movie theatre in a location that now has become Giant supermarket. But I'm not sure if it's some sort of Purwakartan dream to have a movie theatre. It's because from what I see, many middle-up Purwakartans choose to go to Bandung, Bekasi, or Jakarta if they want to watch some movies because they can do another thing before or after such as shopping.

However, I've been wondering if the non-existence of Malls or Shopping Center has been  part of Purwakartan government policy or is it the thought of developers who think that Purwakartans don't have enough ability to purchase such "luxury" yet?

Do you think to have a cinema in Purwakarta is worth fighting for?
I think the absence of big movie theatre chain can be an opportunity for locals businessmen who want to invest strategically in movie theatre industry in Purwakarta. Additionally, I've seen an Instagram account displaying a short/indie movie screening in Purwakarta. I think that kind of activity can flourish more in Purwakarta in the absence of movie theatre.

Are you interested in learning more about Dedi Mulyadi’s public policy during his two-period tenure as the Regent of Purwakarta?
Not really. Since I'm now living outside Purwakarta, it doesn't really matter anymore. His policies now have just become one of talking points when having a conversation with my parents.

What is your aspiration for your land of birth?
Nothing. I wasn't born in Purwakarta.

As an important part of West Java’s future, what is your aspiration for a better West Java?
This is a superb question. I've never felt that I'm an important part of West Java future. I'm a pessimist and apathetic type of person whn it comes to politics. But, for what it's worth, I'm hoping that candidates who aim to win Pilkada Jabar 2018 don't even think to label their opponents Kafir in order to win the election. Also, I wish West Java people can be a smarter people in electing their leaders for the next five or ten years to come.

6. Arief D. Utama (Public Affairs Consultant, born in Aceh Tamiang but raised in Bandung, @ariefdwiutama)
Do you care about Pilkada Jawa Barat (Jabar) 2018?
Yes, I do. I've also been folowing the development of it a little bit now.

Have you ever heard the name of Dedi Mulyadi?
I've heard about him a lot.

How do you know him?

I knew him from my Dad who happened to work in Purwakarta in 2013

Do you care about his Pilkada Jabar 2018 candidacy?

Yeah, I've been aware that he's been working on his manuevers since 2016 for Pilkada 2018.

Do you know any of his public policy?
I know a few such as the prohibition for couples to stay outside their house above 9 p.m and they'll forcefully asked to marry to each other if they do. Also, I know that there are a lot of statues erected in Purwakarta, and Dedi seems to really care about the poor.

Do you think to be legally raided by Satpol PP for being together with your heterosexual friend/someone in a particular location above 9 PM and forced to marry that person if got caught and refused to break up your boy/girlfriend are great ideas? Why?

I don't think those are great ideas. The policy is irrelevant to this age, besides Satpol PP should rather do their job with the raid of prostitutes or illegal goods, and whatnot.

It was a thing i Purwakarta, are you familiar with that?

Yes, it was viral in the media.

To have a movie theatre has always been a dream of many Purwakartans. Are you familiar that there's no move theatre in Purwakarta for many years now?
Yes I am.

Do you think to have a cinema in Purwakarta is worth fighting for?

Yes,it is worth fighting for.

Are you interested in learning more about Dedi Mulyadi’s public policy during his two-period tenure as the Regent of Purwakarta?

Yes, I am interested in knowing more of his policies since the already existing policies have been pretty unique to me.

As an important part of West Java’s future, what is your aspiration for a better West Java?

I aspire to see a more innovative leader in West Java, like somone who can make bureucracy more efficient as well as investment regulations so that we can unleash the whole potentials of West Java. I hope that will lead to a better economy for people in West Java. Make Jabar Great Again!
